Has Valentine’s Day got you in it’s grip? Feeling less than special or unloved? Bemoaning your situation? #valentinesday
Can we gain some perspective?
Once, I lost a stone in my wedding set. A tiny little ruby. It is such a small one that it might look like a crumb if you saw it on the floor. But out of the setting, the space it left seemed huge.
We are told in scripture that we are more precious than rubies (Proverbs 31:10) that is, anything the world sees as valuable. How many days a week do you really believe this about yourself?
We are clumsy. We fail. We have bad hair days. #badhairday Our heart is full of junk. We yell at the family. We sneer at the driver next to us.
If I am honest, I can say that on too many days, I feel more like a rusted piece of iron than a gold bracelet! Maybe a cheap mood ring would be an even better description!! #moodring
You know, our feelings can lie to us. Oh, yes. They are fickle things. They are no barometer for truth, especially when it comes to our value.
Feelings are easily influenced by others, by cultural standards, by our rotten circumstances. Our feelings should not be ignored, but they should be measured against what God says it true.
God has plenty to say about how much He loves us. Did you know you were planned and made for a purpose? That’s not just some self-help affirmation. It comes from God’s Word.
The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life. — Job 33:4
The very act of giving us the gift of life conveys value.
I am a quilter. When I make a quilt, I don’t do it to then tear it to shreds. I make quilts in love, for the person who will be using it. I want each one to be special and unique. The act of creating by its very nature is love. #quilting #giftsoflove #sharingiscaring
God also gives us so many blessings! Even in our messes and unhappy times, God is blessing.
Think about the food on your table. The job you have. Do you appreciate a sunset? Do your children make you smile?
We, especially in America, our so blessed with things of comfort and convenience. The fact that we have so many choices is a blessing.
Take a little time this week to look at everything you touch or take part in as a blessing. Thank Him for indoor plumbing!! #toiletsrock
But our Father went farther than this, didn’t He? He was also willing to sacrifice for us through Jesus. #jesusrocks This is the part of the story that clutches my heart. It is the ultimate indication that our God loves us!
To willingly take the world’s shame and pain and bear it ALL. All of it. Take your pain and multiply it by 200 billion people! And that is assuming everyone’s shame and pain is at the same level as yours. We might as well try to imagine the heat of the sun on Venus! #venus
My friends, you are loved by an everlasting, all-powerful, devoted and patient God. You are a precious gem! Junk costume jewelry you are not!
Remember, my wedding set? It looked unfinished without its tiny ruby. God made each of us to be a special jewel in His kingdom. Can you image what that father’s ring might look like!?! And an empty space in it just won’t do – it belongs to you.
